Police in Regina have arrested a 27-year-old man in connection to a pair of dramatic vehicle arsons committed earlier this month – one of which was caught on camera. The first fire occurred at around midnight on April 11 on the 4600 of Mutrie Crescent. Police were called to the area after a vehicle was reportedly set on fire. Video footage of the area showed a man tossing a lit object through the vehicle’s driver-side window, creating a burst of flames that enveloped the vehicle and the suspect. Officers were able to extinguish the flames with a fire extinguisher once they arrived at the scene. The second incident was reported on April 16 in the area of East Sandpiper Crescent. Fire crews battled against the blaze that ended up destroying a pickup truck. On Thursday, April 23, Regina police arrested a 27-year-old man and charged him with disguise with intent, mischief under $5,000 in addition to two counts of arson with disregard for human life. He made his first appearance in Regina Provincial Court Friday morning.
