A North Battleford cab company is grieving the loss of an employee, after the man became the victim of a homicide while on the job last Friday. Thirty-year-old Davinder Singh was driving for Crown Cab that night when he responded to a call at the Hitching Post Motel. Singh had no way of knowing when he accepted that fare that it would be his last.Later, just before 8 a.m., RCMP were called to the motel with a report of an injured man. Singh was found unresponsive in the parking lot, and declared dead at the scene by paramedics. Two 19-year-old men have since been charged in relation to his death. Kojac Adams is facing one count of first-degree murder, in addition to one count of assault with a weapon and one count of pointing a firearm. Garren Baptiste has been charged with one count of manslaughter, and both men also each face a count of forcible confinement. The accused both made their first appearance in North Battleford Provincial Court on Monday morning, where they were remanded in custody until March 30. The owner of Crown Cab, Haris Korath told CTV News that the event has left his company shaken. After closing for the weekend, the cab company has opted to donate all of their earnings from their first day back in business to Singh’s family. The company is also encouraging anyone who wishes to give flowers or donations to Singh’s family to do so through the Crown Cab office. Korath says many drivers are feeling scared, and some have left their jobs following Friday’s events. The company owner emphasized that his cabs will now have increased security measures, including CCTV cameras, and a policy requiring backpacks and bags to go in the trunk. Singh was described as friendly, and always willing to help out. His employer went on to say that Singh wasn’t just a driver, he was a brother.
