A man from Brampton, Ont. man is facing drug trafficking charges after opium was seized at a Saskatchewan border crossing. Estevan RCMP, along with the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA), arrested a man trying to cross into Canada at the North Portal port of entry in southeast Saskatchewan on March 4. Police say the man possessed around 67 grams of opium. Following an investigation, Estevan RCMP charged the 53-year-old from Brampton, Ont. with one count of attempting to unlawfully import a Schedule I substance and one count of attempting to smuggle goods into Canada. The accused is set to make his first appearance in Estevan Provincial Court on March 20.
