Southey RCMP have arrested a 45-year-old female following a fatal one-vehicle collision on Piapot First Nation. Southey RCMP received a report on Nov. 14 at 9:15 p.m. about a single-vehicle collision east of Highway 6. Lumsden and Southey RCMP responded, along with local fire and EMS. A passenger in the vehicle, a 59-year-old male from Regina, was declared deceased by EMS at the scene. His family has been notified. EMS transported two additional male passengers to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the vehicle, who was arrested at the scene, was taken to hospital for further assessment. She was released pending her court appearance. Four charges were laid against the driver: impaired operation of a conveyance causing bodily harm; operation of a conveyance with blood alcohol concentration greater than 80mg causing bodily harm; impaired operation of a conveyance causing death; and, operation of a conveyance with blood alcohol concentration greater than 80mg causing death. She is scheduled to appear in Regina Provincial Court on Jan. 5, 2026. Southey RCMP continue to investigate with the assistance of a Saskatchewan RCMP collision reconstructionist.
