A 66-year-old inmate of the Regina Correctional Centre has died following an extended hospital stay, according to the province. In a news release published Tuesday, Saskatchewan’s Ministry of Corrections, Policing and Public Safety revealed that the inmate was declared dead on Sat., Nov. 15 at 9:14 p.m. at Pasqua Hospital in Regina. The inmate was initially taken to hospital by EMS from the correctional centre on Oct. 27 due to “pre-existing conditions.” He stayed in the hospital’s care until his death. The Saskatchewan Coroners Service have been notified and are investigating. The ministry will also conduct an internal investigation. The inmate’s family has been notified. No foul play is suspected at this time.
