Taylor Swift postponed an Eras Tour concert in Rio de Janeiro Saturday after a 23-year-old fan died during her Friday night show, according to a message posted on the singers Instagram.

Im writing this from my dressing room in the stadium. The decision has been made to postpone tonights show due to the extreme temperatures in Rio, the singer said in a handwritten note posted on her Instagram account. The safety and well being of my fans, fellow performers, and crew has to and always will come first.

The cause of death for Ana Clara Benevides Machado, the young woman who sought medical attention at Nilton Santos Olympic Stadium during Fridays show, has not yet been announced. The office of Rios public prosecutor opened a criminal investigation and said Benevides body was being examined.

Benevides death shook many people in Brazil. She had taken her first flight ever to travel from the countrys centre-west region to Rio to see her favourite musician. She also created a WhatsApp group to keep her family updated, sending photos and videos every step of the way, family members told online news site G1.

Fans and politicians reacted to her death with outrage, speculating it was linked to extreme heat.

Concertgoers complained they were not allowed to take water into the stadium despite the stifling weather. As temperatures continued to rise Saturday and with two more shows to go at the time, federal authorities announced that free water would now be made available at concerts and other large events.

One of Benevides friends, who also went to the concert, told local outlets they had both been given water while waiting to enter the stadium.

In a previous statement shared on her social media Saturday morning, Swift said she had a shattered heart.

Theres very little information I have other than the fact that she was so incredibly beautiful and far too young, the singer wrote of the young woman.

The shows organizer, Time4Fun, said on Instagram that paramedics attended to Benevides after she reported feeling unwell. She was taken to a first-aid center and then to a hospital, where she died an hour later, the statement from the Brazilian live entertainment company said.

Fans who attended the Friday show said they were not allowed to bring water bottles into the stadium even though Rio and most of Brazil have had record-breaking temperatures this week amid a dangerous and lasting heat wave. The daytime high in Rio on Friday was 39.1 degrees Celsius (102.4 degrees Fahrenheit), but it felt much hotter.

Apparent temperature -- a combination of temperature and humidity -- hit 59 C (138 F) Friday morning in Rio, the highest index ever recorded there.

Elizabeth Morin, 26, who recently moved to Rio from Los Angeles, described sauna-like conditions inside the stadium.

It was extremely hot. My hair got so wet from sweat as soon as I came in, she said. There was a point at which I had to check my breathing to make sure I wasnt going to pass out.

Morin said she drank plenty of water but saw a good amount of people looking distressed and others yelling for water. She said she was able to get water from the sidelines of the area she was standing in, but that water was a lot harder to access from other parts of the stadium, especially if you were concerned about losing your specific position.

During the show, Swift paused her performance and asked from the stage for water to be brought to a group of people who had successfully caught the singers attention, according to Morin.

They were holding up their phones saying `We need water, she recalled.

Two other concertgoers interviewed by The Associated Press said they witnessed people feeling unwell from the heat during the show.

On her way to Rio, Benevides sent a video to family members that was broadcast by TV channel Globo News, telling them: Mom, look at the plane, its moving. Mom, Im on the plane. My God in heaven! Im happy!

Then before the concert, she posted a video of herself on Instagram wearing a Taylor Swift T-shirt and friendship bracelets, seeking shade under an umbrella while waiting in line to enter the stadium.

Like her, thousands of fans waited hours in the sun before being allowed inside.

She told her followers while fanning her face that shed arrived at 11 a.m. -- the show began around 7:30 p.m. -- and was still in the mess.

Benevides friend, Daniele Menin, who attended the concert with her, told online news site G1 that her friend passed out at the beginning of the concert, as Swift performed her second song, Cruel Summer.

We always said that when (Taylor Swift) came to Brazil we would find a way to go. The ticket was very expensive, but we still found a way, Menin told G1.

Justice Minister Flavio Dino said on X, formerly known as Twitter, that going forward in Brazil, water bottles for personal use, in suitable material, will be allowed at concerts and festivals and that show producers must provide free and easily accessible drinking water.

Rio de Janeiro Mayor Eduardo Paes wrote on X that the loss of a young womans life ... is unacceptable and demanded more brigades and ambulances at future shows.

Still, the concert was postponed.

We are on the train. And everyone is so disappointed, said Hely Olivares, a 41 year-old Venezuelan who had travelled from Panama to see the artist.

Before postponing the concert, Swift wrote on Instagram that she would not address the death from stage because I feel overwhelmed by grief when I even try to talk about it.

I want to say now I feel this loss deeply and my broken heart goes out to her family and friends, she said.

Sean Diddy Combs, was accused in a lawsuit Thursday of subjecting R&B singer Cassie to a yearslong relationship that included beatings and rape.

Cassie, whose legal name is Casandra Ventura, alleged in the suit filed against the producer and music mogul in New York federal court that Combs brought her into his ostentatious, fast-paced, and drug-fueled lifestyle not long after she met him and signed to his label when she was 19 and he was 37 in 2005.

Attorney Ben Brafman said Combs vehemently denies the allegations.

Ventura, now 37 herself, said Combs, now 54, began the pattern of abuse began as soon as their relationship did.

The suit alleges that, prone to uncontrollable rage, he subjected her to savage beatings in which he punched, kicked and stomped her. It alleges he plied her with drugs, and forced her to have sex with other men while he masturbated and filmed them.

The suit says that as she was trying to end the relationship in 2018, Combs forced her into her Los Angeles home and raped her.

After years in silence and darkness, I am finally ready to tell my story, and to speak up on behalf of myself and for the benefit of other women who face violence and abuse in their relationships, Ventura said in a statement.

The Associated Press does not typically name people who say they have been sexually abused unless they come forward publicly as Ventura has.

Brafman called the allegations lies.

For the past six months, Mr. Combs has been subjected to Ms. Venturas persistent demand of $30 million, under the threat of writing a damaging book about their relationship, which was unequivocally rejected as blatant blackmail, he said in a statement. Despite withdrawing her initial threat, Ms. Ventura has now resorted to filing a lawsuit riddled with baseless and outrageous lies, aiming to tarnish Mr. Combss reputation and seeking a payday.

Combs is among the most influential hip-hop producers and executives of the past three decades.

He and Ventura began dating in 2007 and had an on-and-off relationship for more than a decade.

She became known for the Ryan Leslie-produced hit single Me & U, which secured the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop songs chart in 2006. The song was the lead single of her only studio album, which was self-titled.

As an actor, she has appeared in several television and films projects including Foxs Empire, Step Up 2:The Streets and Spenser Confidential.

Combs built one of hip-hops biggest empires, blazing a trail with several entities attached to his famous name. He is the founder of Bad Boy Records and a three-time Grammy winner who has worked with a slew of top-tier artists including Notorious B.I.G., Mary J. Blige, Usher, Lil Kim, Faith Evans and 112.

The mogul created the fashion clothing line Sean John, launched the Revolt TV channel with a focus on music, and produced the reality show Making the Band for MTV.

This year, he released his fifth studio album The Love Album: Off the Grid, which earned two Grammy nominations this month.

The lawsuit cites a speech Combs gave while receiving a lifetime achievement honor at the BET Awards in 2022, in which he thanked Ventura for holding me down in the dark times, love.

The suit says, The truth, however, is that Cassie -- Ms. Casandra Ventura -- was held down by Mr. Combs and endured over a decade of his violent behavior and disturbed demands.

Authorities in Nevada served a search warrant this week in connection with the long-unsolved killing of rapper Tupac Shakur nearly 30 years ago, they confirmed Tuesday.

Shakur, one of the most prolific figures in hip-hop, was killed on the night of Sept. 7, 1996, in a drive-by shooting in Las Vegas. He was 25.

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department said the search warrant was executed Monday in the nearby city of Henderson. Its unclear what they were looking for and where they were looking.

Department spokesperson Aden OcampoGomez said in a brief phone call that he couldnt provide further details on the latest development in the case, citing the open investigation.

Nevada does not have a statute of limitations for prosecuting homicide cases.

Shakur was gunned down while sitting inside a black BMW with Marion Suge Knight, head of Death Row Records. Police have said the two were waiting at a red light near the Las Vegas Strip when a white Cadillac pulled up next to them and gunfire erupted. Shot multiple times, Shakur was rushed to a hospital, where he died six days later.

No arrests have ever been made. Las Vegas police have said in the past that the investigation quickly stalled in part because witnesses refused to cooperate.

Shakurs death came amid his feud with rap rival the Notorious B.I.G., who was fatally shot six months later. At the time, both rappers were in the middle of the infamous East Coast-West Coast rivalry, which primarily defined the hip-hop scene during the mid-1990s. The feud was ignited after Shakur was seriously wounded in another shooting during a robbery in the lobby of a midtown Manhattan hotel.

Shakur openly accused B.I.G. and Sean Diddy Combs of having prior knowledge of the shooting, which both vehemently denied. The shooting sparked enough of a feud that created a serious divide within the hip-hop community and fans.

The New York-born Shakur represented the West Coast after he signed with Los Angeles-based Death Row Records. He often traded verbal jabs in the media and through songs. B.I.G. and Combs hailed from the East Coast while representing New York City-based Bad Boy Records.

Largely considered one of the most influential and versatile rappers of all time, the six-time Grammy Award -nominated Shakur has had five No. 1 albums: 1995s Me Against the World, 1996s All Eyez on Me, and three posthumous releases: 1996s The Don Killuminati: The 7 Day Theory, which was recorded under the name Makaveli, as well as 2001s Until the End of Time and 2004s Loyal to the Game.

His professional music career only lasted five years, but Shakur secured 21 Billboard Hot 100s, including top 10 hits Dear Mama and Old School in 1995, and his best-known track, 1996s How Do U Want It/California Love featuring K-Ci and JoJo. The latter spent two weeks at the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 from his final studio album and Death Row Records debut, All Eyez on Me.

According to entertainment data company Luminate, Shakur has sold 33 million albums, 41 million when including track sale and streaming equivalents. The rappers on-demand video and audio streams total 10.1 billion.

In 2017, Shakur was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame by Snoop Dogg. In June of this year, the rapper received a posthumous star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Hes also had some museum exhibits that paid homage to his life, including Tupac Shakur. Wake Me When Im Free, which opened in 2021.

Canadian Swifties aren’t too thrilled with Taylor Swift’s newly announced 2024 tour dates after the singer included no stops in Canada.

In a tweet Tuesday, Taylor Swift wrote, I can’t wait to see so many of you on The Eras Tour next year at these new international dates.

Her tweet included a photo of 38 dates, starting on Feb. 7, with mutiple shows in countries like Australia, the U.K., and Japan, but none in Canada.

The singer announced that American singer and actress Sabrina Carpenter would join her on the worldwide stage as a special guest.

This is the second leg of international dates for Taylor Swift after she kick-started her eight-month-long tour on Mar. 17, with the final date on Nov. 26 in Brazil.

Canadian companies like Much Music chimed in saying Canada, how we doing? with an upside-down smiley face emoji, while McDonalds Canada commented, *cries in Canadian*.

Several fans also took to social media to express their disappointment.

Will the real Slim Shady please stand up?

During a recent DJ set, David Guetta paid homage to Eminem, riling up the crowd by using a clever application of artificial intelligence technology.

In a recent interview, Guetta explained that he prompted one AI application to write a verse about his signature future rave sound in the style of the Detroit hip-hop legend. He then took that verse and ran it through a separate platform to produce an eerie deepfake of Eminems voice as though he were reciting the AI-generated bars himself.

Impressed by the results, Guetta played a snippet of the deepfake verse as a pre-drop vocal during one of his recent performances.

The social experiment certainly proves to be a thought-provoking one given how accessible AI tech has become in recent months—and how seemingly easy it is to recreate an artists vocals with uncanny accuracy. However, Guetta was quick to point out this particular stunt was all just for fun.

This is something that I made as a joke, and it worked so good, I could not believe it, Guetta said.
