Theres a more urgent need than ever for comfortable shoes at Miamis Ultra Music Festival.

Festival-goers are going to be dancing even more than usual after organizers today revealed the first wave of headliners for Ultras 2024 edition, which has enough star power to make the sun jealous.

Ultra has confirmed Eric Prydz, Martin Garrix, Amelie Lens, David Guetta, Tiësto, Excision, Peggy Gou, Gryffin, Nora En Pure and SLANDER, among other electronic music superstars. Calvin Harris is also poised for his first Ultra Miami appearance in a decade after his show-stopping performance in 2013, the year he released his generational dance anthem Under Control.

Fans can also look forward to a number of compelling collaborative sets, like from Chris Lake and FISHER, who are fresh off a historic Under Construction performance on Hollywood Boulevard. Others include Sasha and John Digweed, Dubfire and Ilario Alicante, and the MASTERHAND trio comprising Eptic, Space Laces and SVDDEN DEATH.

And what would Ultra be without Hardwell? The Dutch EDM icon is once again set to return to the festivals illustrious Mainstage after tearing it up to launch his long-awaited comeback following a four-year hiatus.

Taylor Swift is finally booking an Eras Tour stop in Toronto and making amends with a six-show stint in the city.

The “Anti-Hero” singer-songwriter announced on Thursday that she will be spending almost two weeks in Toronto in the fall of 2024.

Her first string of concerts is booked at the Rogers Centre — a venue with a capacity of more than 50,000 — on Nov. 14, 15, and 16, followed by another stint on Nov 21, 22, and 23.

“Turns out it’s NOT the end of an era,” Swift teased on Twitter while announcing the second leg of her tour coming to Miami, New Orleans, Indianapolis and Toronto.

The mega pop star said tickets aren’t on sale yet, but they will be on Wednesday. In the meantime, verified fan registration for Toronto shows is now open.

American musician Gracie Abrams, who Swift has called one of her favourite friends while performing together in Ohio, will be joining her on stage in Toronto.

In June, Canadian fans were left in the lurch when Swift announced 40 new dates for her Eras Tour, including Mexico, Europe, Asia and Australia – skipping Canada entirely.

It seems Swift is eager to smooth over the rough patch with Canadians – the only other cities that got six shows were Los Angeles and Singapore.

The original omission pushed Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to tweet at Swift with paraphrased lyrics from her own songs, posting, Its me, hi. I know places in Canada would love to have you. So, dont make it another cruel summer. We hope to see you soon.

TAYLOR SWIFT WILL HAVE ‘ENORMOUS’ IMPACT ON TORONTO

Destinations Toronto Executive Vice President Andrew Weir said Swift’s shows will have an “enormous” impact on the city’s tourism and hospitality industries when they need it most.

“Thats a critical time for our industry, just as the time when a lot of business travel starts to subside, leisure travel for the holidays hasnt really picked up yet,” Weir told CP24.

As the only city in the country with shows booked, Weir said he expects the geographic radius of Swifties inundating Toronto will be significant, and in turn, reflect a substantial monetary value.

On average, Era Tour fans are spending U.S. $1,300 – equivalent to more than $1,700 in Canada – on tickets, merchandise, alcohol, food, parking and hotels, Canadian music correspondent Eric Alper told CP24.

“You tabulate that, she could be raking in anywhere between $75 million and $100 million just based on these six dates alone,” Alper said.

He notes that several days linger between Swift’s Toronto shows, which could leave room for more dates to be announced, or even a quick visit to stages in another major city, like Montreal or Vancouver.

THE ERAS TOUR SO FAR

The first leg of the Eras Tour launched in March with the final date booked in Brazil at the end of November 2023.After a few months to rest her vocal cords, Swift will be back on stage in Tokyo in February 2024.

The three-hour concert takes fans through the eras of the Grammy-winner’s 17-year career, spanning from “Love Story” in her earliest era to her most recent “Anti-Hero.”

With the first stretch of the tour nearly in the rear-view, Swift wrote, “really blows my mind that we have one last city on the US leg,” on Instagram this week before heading to Santa Clara.

More than halfway through the eight-month stretch, and the hype for her tour has only roared louder, with her Seattle concert generating seismic activity equivalent to a 2.3 magnitude earthquake just last week.

While Canadian Swifties are rejoicing about the new tour dates, securing tickets could be a battle in itself. When tickets for the first leg of her Eras Tour were released, Swift broke Ticketmaster with insufficient supply to meet the extraordinary fan demand.

Singer and rapper Aaron Carter accidentally drowned in his bathtub as a result of sedatives hed taken and gas used in spray cleaners he had inhaled, a coroners report said Tuesday.

Carter, the younger brother of the Backstreet Boys Nick Carter, was found submerged and dead at age 34 in the bathtub of his home in Lancaster, California, on Nov. 5, the autopsy report from the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner said.

Sheriffs deputies had been the last people to see Carter alive when they visited his house at 2 a.m. on Nov. 4 for a welfare check after he had been seen and heard huffing an inhalant on an Instagram live video, according to a police report included in the autopsy findings. He asked the deputies to leave, and they did.

The autopsy found that the sedative alprazolam, often sold under the brand name Xanax, was found in his system, as was the compressed gas difluoroethane, which the report says is a gas commonly used as a propellant in air spray cleaners, which can induce feelings of euphoria when inhaled.

The two substances incapacitated him in the tub, and caused the drowning, the report said.

Later in the evening, after deputies checked on Carter, he missed an appointment with a drug counsellor, the police report said.

The following day, a person whom authorities called a house sitter at the time but whom the report identifies in quotes as a housekeeper came to Carters house to offer him coffee. She let herself in when she got no response and heard his dogs barking, according to the report.

The woman found him submerged, wearing a T-shirt and necklace, in a Jacuzzi-style tub with the jets running, and called 911. The operator told her to pull him out and perform CPR, according to the report. Paramedics immediately declared him dead when they arrived.

Investigators found several prescription bottles and multiple scattered cans of an electronic duster that he used for inhaling.

The report referred to Carter as a celebrity with a known history of substance abuse who had multiple interactions with local police relating to the substance abuse. It cited a particular history of inhalant abuse, and a recent relapse.

Carter began performing as a child in the 1990s, opening for acts including his brothers boy band and Britney Spears. His career peak came in 2000 with the triple-platinum album Aarons Party (Come Get It), which produced hit singles including the title song and I Want Candy.

He also acted on television shows including Lizzie McGuire, and appeared on the family reality show House of Carters and Dancing With the Stars.

Carter for years had been open about his substance abuse struggles, detailing his issues with inhalants in a 2019 episode of the talk show The Doctors. He also said in the interview that he was taking medications for acute anxiety and bipolar disorder.

Nick Carter said after his younger brothers death that I have always held onto the hope that he would somehow, someday want to walk a healthy path and eventually find the help that he so desperately needed.
