A Regina driver is facing charges following a collision with a pedestrian on Monday evening. Officers were called to the 1800 block of Cameron Street around 7 p.m. for a report of an impaired driver, according to a release from the Regina Police Service (RPS). A second call came while officers were en route, advising them that a pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle near Athol Street and 8th Avenue, police said. EMS took the victim to hospital with minor injuries, but the driver of the vehicle did not remain at the scene. Around 7:20 p.m., officers found the suspect vehicle near Elphinstone Street and 13th Avenue. Police performed a traffic stop and the driver was arrested, with further investigation revealing the same vehicle was involved with the pedestrian collision. A 40-year-old man has been charged with impaired operation of a conveyance by alcohol, exceeding 80 mg of alcohol within two hours of operating a conveyance, and failure to stop after an accident. He will make is first court appearance on these charges on Nov.19.
