A Regina resident was shot to death by police on Thursday night. The Regina Police Service has offered few details about the officer-involved shooting, but said the incident occurred around 11 p.m. during an investigation at 3630 East Haughton Road. According to police, officers fired their guns, fatally wounding an individual. The province’s Serious Incident Response Team (SIRT) is investigating the incident, a requirement anytime someone is killed or injured by police in the line of duty. “We understand that this incident is of significant public interest and ask for patience as the facts are gathered,” police said in a news release Friday morning. “Because this is an active SIRT investigation, no further information will be provided by the Regina Police Service.” Anyone with information about the shooting should call SIRT, police say.
